Danny's story starts the way all great ones do — with passion that couldn't wait. He joined Mantra 2 as an apprentice at just 13 years old, making his own father's wrist the canvas for his very first piece. That act of trust set the tone for a career built on deep personal connection and relentless craft. Over 25 years later, Danny's freehand work — guided entirely by imagination — is what sets Mantra 2 apart from every other studio in West London.

Steve was 12 years old when his father gave him a tattoo kit for Christmas. Most children would have left it in a cupboard. Steve started tattooing. Three years of self-teaching, thousands of hours of practice, and an uncompromising standard of craft later, he joined Mantra 2 — and never looked back. Today he owns the studio that shaped him. Mantra 2 has been part of the West Drayton community for over 25 years. What began as a single studio has grown into a full-service creative space — three private tattooing rooms, a dedicated piercing studio, and a laser clinic under one roof.

After Your Visit

Aftercare Guides

Tattoo Aftercare

Your tattoo is a wound — treat it with care for 2–4 weeks and you'll be rewarded with a vibrant, lasting result.

1.

First 24 Hours

Leave cling film on for 2–4 hours. Remove gently and wash with lukewarm water and fragrance-free soap. Pat dry — never rub.

2.

Days 2–7

Apply thin unscented moisturiser (Bepanthen) 2–3 times daily. Keep clean, avoid soaking — no baths, swimming or hot tubs.

3.

Days 7–14

Peeling is normal — do not pick. Continue moisturising. Itching is common; resist scratching. The skin will look dull before clearing.

4.

Long Term

Avoid direct sun while healing. Once healed, use SPF 50 to protect colour. Avoid tight clothing over fresh work.

Piercing Aftercare

New piercings need regular cleaning and protection from irritants. Healing times vary by placement.

1.

Clean Twice Daily

Use sterile saline (NaCl 0.9%) on a clean cotton pad. Gently remove any crust. Do not rotate the jewellery.

2.

Avoid Touching

Only touch with freshly washed hands. Bacteria from hands is the most common cause of piercing infection.

3.

Protect It

Avoid swimming pools for 6 weeks. Sleep on a clean pillowcase. Keep headphones away from ear piercings during healing.

4.

Healing Times

Lobes: 6–8 weeks. Nostril: 4–6 months. Cartilage: 6–12 months. Navel: 6–12 months. Be patient — rushing causes setbacks.

Laser Aftercare

The treated area will be sensitive after your session. Proper aftercare reduces healing time and minimises risks.

1.

Immediately After

Apply cooling gel or aloe vera to soothe. A cool compress helps with swelling. Avoid touching the area unnecessarily.

2.

Days 1–3

Keep clean and dry. Blistering is normal — do not pop. Apply petroleum jelly and cover if needed to protect from friction.

3.

Days 3–14

Let blisters heal naturally. Moisturise as skin dries. Avoid picking scabs. Use SPF 50 on the treated area once healed.

4.

Between Sessions

Wait at least 6–8 weeks between sessions. Staying hydrated and active supports your immune system in clearing the ink.

SMP Aftercare

SMP aftercare is critical in the first 4 days — it determines how well the pigment settles.

1.

Days 1–4

Keep scalp completely dry — no washing, sweating, or rain exposure. Avoid saunas and gyms. The pigment is settling.

2.

Days 4–10

Gently wash with lukewarm water and mild SLS-free shampoo. Pat dry. Apply light unscented moisturiser to the scalp.

3.

Sun Protection

UV exposure is the main cause of SMP fading. Apply SPF 50 to your scalp whenever outdoors — this significantly extends treatment life.

4.

Long Term

SMP lasts 3–5 years before a top-up is needed. Moisturise daily and avoid harsh chemical shampoos to preserve pigment depth.
